Surv News April

At Neighborhood Survants, service is how we build stronger neighborhoods together. March allowed us to reflect, celebrate leadership within our community, and continue meeting real needs through collective action. As we move into April, our focus shifts toward one powerful idea:

Volunteering - serving together to strengthen every neighborhood.

Surv Spotlight: Honoring the Women Who Lead Their Communities

As we closed out Women’s History Month, we reflected on the importance of honoring those who serve not for recognition, but for impact. Neighborhood Survants remains committed to continuing this tradition of celebration, ensuring that the voices and contributions of women in our community are seen, valued, and remembered year-round.

Their legacy of service continues to inspire the work ahead.

Inside The Neighborhood!

🧘🏾‍♀️ Wellness Surv’d: Wellness Wednesdays in Motion

Throughout March, Neighborhood Survants hosted Wellness Wednesdays, a weekly series designed to encourage community members to reconnect with their physical, mental, and emotional wellness.

Each Wednesday, we introduced a new way for neighbors to move their bodies, relieve stress, and experience wellness together in a welcoming environment.

Wellness Wednesday Activities Included:

  • Salsa Dance Class

  • Hip Hop Dance Class

  • Tai Chi Sessions

  • Yoga Practice

These gatherings were about more than exercise; they were about joy, healing, and community energy. Participants laughed, learned new movements, supported one another, and created a space where wellness felt accessible to everyone, regardless of experience level.

By bringing movement into community spaces, Wellness Surv’d reminded us that wellness is not a luxury; it is a shared responsibility and a community practice.

When neighbors move together, they build stronger connections, improve mental health, and cultivate a sense of belonging.

All Hands on Deck

One of our standout moments came when multiple truckloads of donated items arrived.

Volunteers immediately stepped in to unload, sorting and preparing supplies for community distribution. These moments show what happens when people stop waiting for change and become part of it.

🤝 April Focus: Volunteer Surv’d

As we transition into April, Neighborhood Survants shifts its focus toward Volunteer Surv’d — a month dedicated to celebrating and activating volunteers.

Volunteers are the heartbeat of our organization. Their time, skills, and compassion allow us to expand impact and reach more neighbors every day.

Throughout April, we will:

  • Highlight volunteer partners and supporters

  • Create new opportunities for community members to serve

  • Encourage acts of service both with Neighborhood Survants and within individual neighborhoods

Volunteering is not limited to organized events — it begins wherever community care is needed.

March showed us the power of recognition and collective effort. April invites us to live out service intentionally — not just during organized events, but through everyday kindness.

Neighborhood Survants believes thriving communities are built by neighbors who choose connection over isolation and action over indifference.

Be the neighbor you wish to have. Serve where you stand. Grow community together.
